Questions we hear often
Straight answers about how we work, who we help, and what to expect when you partner with Proftech for IT.
Who is Proftech a good fit for?
Small businesses with about 1–50 employees: owners, office managers, and teams without in-house IT. We work with local services, professional firms, micro-retail, and growing operations that need a reliable remote IT partner.
Do you only work with businesses in Michigan?
We are based in Metro Detroit and many clients are in Michigan, but we work with businesses across the US and internationally. Consultations and support are delivered remotely over video, email, and scheduled screen-share sessions. For local clients, on-site visits can be arranged when needed at the client's expense.
What does remote IT support look like?
You reach us by email or scheduled video call. We troubleshoot PCs, Macs, email, Wi‑Fi, and business apps remotely, walk you through fixes, and coordinate hardware repairs when needed. Most work is remote-first, but if an on-site visit is needed we can arrange one at the client's expense.
How much do your services cost?
It depends on scope. Packages start with a conversation so we can match the right fit. Project work (websites, custom software) is quoted after a free consultation. Ongoing support is available as prepaid hour blocks or monthly retainers with clear terms.
Can you help us choose between Google Workspace and Microsoft 365?
Yes. We help you compare email, file storage, collaboration tools, and cost for your team size, then handle setup, migration, and basic admin so your staff can get back to work.
Do you build custom software or only websites?
Both. We build business websites and landing pages, and we also scope custom internal tools, dashboards, integrations, and workflow automation when off-the-shelf software does not fit how you operate.
What is the difference between your packages and individual services?
Packages bundle common starting points (getting online, website + care, support blocks) with defined deliverables. Individual services on our Services page cover the full range à la carte: consult, build, buy, fix, and run. Not sure which path fits? The consultation is free.
How quickly can you respond when something breaks?
We target same-business-day response during EST hours for active support clients. Urgent issues are triaged as they come in. Exact response times and escalation paths are spelled out in your support agreement.
Do we need to sign a long-term contract?
Not necessarily. Project work is scoped per engagement. Support blocks and retainers have agreed terms and duration, but we aim for straightforward agreements without enterprise-style lock-in. We will explain options before you commit.
What happens after a website or software project is finished?
You receive documentation and handoff. Many clients keep us on a light support plan or prepaid hours for updates, fixes, and small enhancements. The same team that built it can support it ongoing if you want continuity.
